A high-profile Church of Ireland rector has told how his refusal
to conduct services in a nearby Methodist church has ripped his
parish apart and put him on a collision course with his bishop.
The Rev Charles McCartney from Aghalee, Co Antrim, said he had
been warned by the Bishop of Down and Dromore that by not holding
services at the Maghaberry Methodist Church on the Hill he is in
danger of breaking church law. However the minister has dug his
heels in, claiming his beliefs are backed by the majority of his
congregation.
