October's first week may have been one of the busiest this year when it comes to investments by real estate companies in Oklahoma City area shopping centers. In one week, six shopping centers changed ownership -- including five sold by General Electric -- in deals totaling $26.37 million.

Area commercial real estate professionals say the divestitures of shopping centers here reflect a move by large companies to raise cash by selling real estate holdings. And the transactions have given some local investors a chance to buy choice properties and expand their presence in the market.
