Topeka city manager Norton Bonaparte made a strong, positive
impression on city commissioners as he interviewed Tuesday for the
Grand Rapids, Mich., city manager's job, said Grand Rapids Mayor
George Heartwell.
"I think he's a strong contender here," Heartwell said in a
telephone interview with the Topeka Capital-Journal. "I think we
were -- to a person -- impressed with his experience and his
maturity as a city administrator."
Still, Bonaparte finished second and third, respectively, in
evaluations of the four candidates conducted by two advisory panels ...
