When he built his home in the 17th century, the great baroque
painter Sir James Thornhill created a drawing of what he would like
to see adorning the ceiling of his grand stairwell.
Four centuries on, and Exeter-based craftsman Geoffrey Preston
had only the sketch of a Roman-style breast plate, a lion's skin and
weaponry to go on to fulfil the great man's vision for the property.
But now the artist, who partially learned his trade on Exeter
Cathedral, has adorned the walls and ceiling with glorious
masterpieces worthy of the Grade II listed Thornhill Park in Dorset,
