Myanmar stepping up Yangon city construction in 2009-10

YANGON, May 31 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar is stepping up construction of the former capital city of Yangon in the fiscal year 2009-10 and a project which includes renovation and repairing of some damaged streets, which stretch as 70,875 meters long, is underway the local weekly Flower News reported Sunday.

Of the 123 streets in 21 townships covered by the project, 20 in 9 townships have been turned into tarred and concrete ones, the report quoted the Yangon City Development Committee (YCDC) as saying.
