Peacocks at home in Danville neighborhood

DANVILLE -- Westridge Avenue seems, at first, like a typical,
quiet street in Danville -- and then the screaming starts.
To some residents, the bird calls sound like a young girl's
shrieks. Others have likened them to the yowls of a cat.
"When I first heard it I thought it was a horn," 11-year-old
Katherine Claybaugh said of the high-pitched "mew! mew!" of the wild
peacocks that have made this otherwise tranquil neighborhood their
home.
The sight of them in suburban Danville is surreal.
