Past on Parade: Grace Ellery Channing

The Channing family once lived at the highest point in Pasadena.
Their house was near Orange Grove and Walnut, where the Feynes
Mansion of the Pasadena Museum of History now stands.
This was before small Pasadena had annexed the higher North
Pasadena and the San Rafael Hills.
Grace Ellery Channing, poet and author, lived with her parents
from 1884 to 1897 on a 4-acre site that included tennis courts.
Her father, Dr. William Francis Channing, was trained as a
medical doctor but made a career as an inventor of such things as
the first electrical fire alarm systems for cities.
