Pinball lovers unite in Oakland

Armed with quarters and a basic intuition for physics, members of the Radio Pinball Union have one goal: world domination. So far they have conquered Salt Lake City and a small town in Italy. (They entered the union's initials in pinball machines in both locales.)

At home in Oakland, RPU -- as the members refer to the collective -- has its headquarters at Radio Bar. The unofficial motto: "We demand slightly longer flippers."

Their official motto is "flippers of fury," which is prominently displayed to the right of the machine installed in a corner of the dark downtown bar.
