RESTORED BAPTISTERY IS UNVEILED

THE Long Tower Church in Derry has unveiled its restored baptistery - 100 years after it was first installed.

The unveiling took place during a special weekend ceremony at St Columba's Church.

Parish priest Roland Colhoun said that when the Long Tower Church opened in 1909, the baptistery was described as the gem of the church.

He said: "It is indeed a remarkable work of architecture and art. Generations of babies were baptised there and began their journey of faith inside its elegant edifice.
