Independence-based Community of Christ sues again over use of name
|
For the second time in two years, the Independence-based
Community of Christ has filed a trademark lawsuit against an
unauthorized branch group that uses the church's former name.
In a lawsuit filed Monday in federal court in Kansas City, the
Community of Christ said the Devon Park Restoration Branch in
Independence was violating Community of Christ's right to the name
"Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints."
The Community of Christ was officially known by the longer name
until April 2001. According to the suit, the church still owns
