Esme, an English girl, comes into her garden, to find a Pan-like creature perched on a limb where he sings her a verse of a song. Decades later, which translates into an evening's worth of stage time in British playwright Tom Stoppard's "Rock 'n' Roll," the song is mentioned again, to mark Esme's reunion with Jan, the play's central character. The New England premiere of "Rock 'n' Roll" is currently at the Huntington Theatre, through Dec. 7, after hugely successful runs in London and New York.
