The caravan industry in East Yorkshire has become renowned as one
of the biggest and best in the UK.
It produces about 80 per cent of the country's caravans, with
about 20,000 expected to be made by firms in Hull and the East
Riding this year.
However, despite hopes theindustry would avoid being hit by the
economic downturn, as more people opt to holiday in Britain instead
of going overseas, the credit crunch has impacted heavily on the
sector.
It is predicted just 7,500 to 12,000 caravans will be made in
East Yorkshire in 2010.
