As Groucho Marx once said, "Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies
like a banana." As we bring our harvest in, we usually see an influx
of fruit flies buzzing around the kitchen. These gnat-sized insects
are usually more of an annoyance than a damaging pest.
Fruit flies are attracted to overripe or rotting fruit. Spilled
juice on a countertop can be enough to draw them in. They can even
reproduce in the drains of sinks, usually in the gunky buildup at
the gooseneck.
Controlling fruit flies is not impossible, but it does take time.
