Titanic yard in race to build Queen Mary II Superliner will recall cruising's golden age

THE British shipyard that built the Titanic could win a pounds 400 million contract this week to build and fit out the Queen Mary II, a new passenger ship that will recreate the lavish era of sea travel.

Harland and Wolff, the Belfast-based shipbuilder, is one of only two companies left in the race for the contract. The other is the French firm Chantiers de l'Atlantique. The winner is expected to be announced by Cunard at a major conference in Miami this week.
