Saints pounce early, sweep AIA
|
The St. Joseph Saints scored on Athletes in Action in the opening
inning of both games and swept a MINK League doubleheader Friday
night at Phil Welch Stadium.
The Saints won the first game 6-1 before taking the nightcap 5-
2.
Game 1 starter Brock Smith, who went the full seven innings for
his fourth win of the season, said that the early cushion worked
wonders for confidence on the mound.
"Pitching is 10 times easier. If you get behind hitters you know
you can challenge 'em because we're up by three runs," Smith said.
