Mule owners determined to save event
|
SEDALIA, Mo. - Missouri mules have earned a reputation for being
stubborn. Now it's mule owners who are digging in their heels.
Breeders joined forces this year in a determined effort to make
sure the state animal remains a part of the Missouri State Fair.
"Here we are in Missouri, the mule state, and it's about the
smallest show around," said Jerry Brown of Dexter, Mo., who has been
showing mules at the state fair for 15 years.
Mule exhibitors are worried about a state fair policy that
requires a livestock show to have at least 40 entries or face
probation and possibly be dropped from the ...
