Granada switches focus from SMG to London
|
IT has taken six weeks for the Granada chess players to make
their ponderous move to stay in the ITV consolidation game but media
observers believe the Glasgow-based Scottish Media Group is in a
stronger shape because of this.
Last Friday's announcement by Coronation Street-maker Granada
that it intends to spoil the agreed #8 billion merger between
Carlton Communications and United News and Media shows that the
Manchester-based group is seriously back in the frame to become the
dominant force in UK commercial television.
