IF you'd spent last Friday night in San Francisco's Great
American Music Hall, you'd have seen and heard one of the 20th
century's truly authentic voices.
No, I wasn't there either, but I can imagine him heaving his
octogenarian frame into a straight-backed chair, setting his foot
rocking and unleashing the mesmeric one-chord blues boogie that has
rolled through the American psyche for more than 50 years now.
