Neuse River Named One of Nation's Most Threatened Rivers

WASHINGTON, April 16 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The Neuse River was named today one of the 20 most threatened rivers in the country by American Rivers, the nation's leading river conservation group. The Neuse River, one of North Carolina's most ecologically and commercially significant rivers, continues to suffer disastrous fish kills. Polluted run-off from farms and urban areas as well as poorly designed and maintained sewage treatment facilities all contribute to the degradation of the Neuse River.
