NEW YORK, Sept. 1 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Amnesty International USA (AIUSA) today urged U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright during her current Middle East trip to press Israeli officials to stop jailing citizens who refuse to perform military service for reasons of conscience. According to the human rights organization's latest report, six years after Israel ratified the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) continue to jail individuals in violation of the international treaty.
