HE FATHERED seven children and gave his name to an authorised version of the Bible that is often used in denouncing the homosexual act.

But King James VI of Scotland has been "outed" by a historian from the United States who claims the monarch was openly gay and fostered a culture of effeminacy at his court.

The titles and favours bestowed upon his homosexual partners - including the man who became the Duke of Lennox - created such resentment that they helped to bring about the English Civil War.
