Edinburgh's soaring salaries leave rest of Scotland behind

AN ECONOMIC boom in Edinburgh has seen salaries soar by up to 20 per cent, leaving the rest of Scotland behind.

Edinburgh's rocketing house prices, high living costs and growing economy have forced employers in the capital to pay staff more than their counterparts in other Scottish cities, according to leading recruitment experts.

However, the appearance of an "Edinburgh weighting" to lower and middle management salaries has raised fears among planners that Edinburgh's economy could overheat.
