Lanarkshire revealed as honeypot for foreign firms

THE regeneration of Scotland's former industrial heartland has led to a dramatic upturn in the Lanarkshire property market as scores of British and foreign businesses invest in the area.

New evidence obtained by The Scotsman, and brought to light in the second part of our Who Bought Scotland series, shows that Lanark, Dumfries, Kircudbright and Wigtown attracted multi-million pound investment over the past three years.

Property deals in the GBP 1 million-plus bracket totalled nearly GBP 419 million between January 1997 and October last year.
