ROSS Belch was an eminent and much respected figure in Glasgow shipping for more than 40 years. He fought fearlessly for the preservation of the industry when it faced the fierce competition from the Far East in the Sixties. He occupied many posts in the shipping industry (most notably as managing director of Scott Lithgow from 1964-69) and was granted many awards for his services to Scottish industry.
