Tories' new tactic is made-in-Scotland approach

IT was a remarkable political transformation. Less than a year after they had vigorously opposed the creation of a Scottish parliament, Tories, at their conference in Glasgow at the weekend, became the party which wants to make devolution work.

They also attempted to cast aside their image as an English party. From now on policies will be "made in Scotland."

A more Scottish party, a more democratic one and a party that has buried its resistance to home rule. This will be the message which the Tories will try to put across to the electorate in the run-up to next year's elections to the Holyrood ...
