DNA tests 'prove skull is that of Bormann'

HISTORIANS yesterday disputed claims that new DNA tests had finally laid to rest doubts about whether Martin Bormann survived the Second World War.

They called on German authorities not to allow the cremation of Bormann's body until independent experts have been given the chance to carry out further tests on the teeth and bone marrow.

Tests have matched DNA taken from a skull found in Berlin in 1972 with that taken from the blood of one of Bormann's children, proving it is that of Hitler's right-hand man, it was claimed yesterday. But the historian Hugh Thomas and the author Milton Shulman ...
