GRANGER - "When I was in school," says Granger cheerleader coach
Brenda Ayling, "if you were popular, you could be a cheerleader,
even if you had no particular athletic abilities.
"Now it takes more. These kids are very athletic. It's one of my
pet peeves if anybody refers to them as "rah-rah girls.' " Ayling,
52, a 1964 Granger High graduate, says much has changed since the
days when she was a cheerleader.
"We do stunts now. When I was in school, nobody did that. We're
really a stunting squad. We started stunting here in the Valley.
