TOPPENISH - Alesia Eyle is 34 and lives in a retirement center.
She spends her days breathing through a tube connected to an air
concentrator - a machine that extracts oxygen from the air. When she
leaves, she connects the tube to a liquid oxygen tank that she
carries around with her like a purse. She also has one in her car.
Exercise helps the circulation through her lungs, but walking
from her car to her apartment leaves her winded and wheezing.
Her lungs are deteriorating with pulmonary fibrosis, which she
