North Dakota Man Elected Indian Congress President

SPOKANE - The Bush administration's proposal for a new
bureaucracy to manage Indian assets is a bad idea, the new president
of the National Congress of American Indians said Thursday.
Tex Hall, chairman of North Dakota's Three Affiliated Tribes, was
elected to a two-year term and said his top priority will be
quashing the proposed Bureau of Indian Trusts Management.
"There is no support in Indian country for this proposed
reorganization," Hall said as the congress continued its weeklong
meeting here.
The congress has passed a resolution opposing the proposal
