Xixia Calligraphy Exhibition Opens in Beijing
|
A four-day exhibition on the calligraphy of a dead language used
by the ancient Xixia people opened Tuesday at the China Art Gallery,
bringing alive the lost civilization of a Chinese kingdom seven
centuries ago in northwestChina.
More than 250 works featuring Xixia characters are on display,
including stele inscriptions, manuscripts and xylographic
literature, photographs of relics, calligraphy and seal cuttings by
modern Chinese and Japanese researchers.
