Unusual Early Happenings of Sandstorms in North China

The first sandstorm that hit China on the last day of the 20th century and continued into the start of the 21st century blew over most of the northern parts of the country, which was, as meteorologists labeled, the most unusual appearance of such weather conditions in a single year.

This was what China Meteorological Administration (CMA) announced Friday at a press conference on the occurrence and influence of sandstorms, which took place this spring in China.

Similar to the last two years, sandstorms showed up frequently this year early and effected large areas in north China.
