Chernomyrdin on His Decision to Run for Presidential

Former Russian Prime Minister Viktor Chernomyrdin said Saturday that he took the decision to run for Russian president in 2000 and President Boris Yeltsin agreed with him, according to Interfax news agency.

Chernomyrdin made the announcement in an interview with ORT broadcasting company, which broadcasted the interview in its political news program Vremya Saturday evening.

Yeltsin dismissed the whole government on Monday, stating that the resigned prime minister would be concentrated on preparation for the presidential elections in 2000. In response to the question whose election and whether ...
