CPC Senior Official Stresses Importance of High Technology

A senior official of the Chinese Communist Party (CPC) said today
that China should attach great importance and priority to the
development of high technology and high-tech industry for the
realization of the country's Ninth Five-Year Plan (1996-2000) and
the
objectives for the year 2010.
Wen Jiabao, an alternate member of the Political Bureau and
member
of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, said China will
focus on developing high technology in electronics, biology, new
materials, new energy, aviation, space flight, and marine sciences.
