Saved... by the toss of a coin ; 6 workers tell of escape

SIX members of a German holiday party escaped the Concorde crash because they lost a flip of a coin with friends for the over-booked aircraft.

The group were angry about the administrative mix-up and the 13 winners of the toss thought themselves the 'lucky ones', said survivors of the party from Moenchengladbach.

One of the losers of the toss, who flew to New York in a jumbo jet instead, expected to be reunited with their friends upon arriving in the US.

Rita Woermann, who was with husband Werner, and Ernst and Renate Zimmermann, said she phoned her daughter-in-law on landing.
