The Dethick family has had a colourful history. Here are a few
notable members:
Sir Robert Dethick - a Member of Parliament for Derbyshire in the
first English parliament in 1293.
Sir John Dethick - became Lord Mayor of London in 1655-6. He was
knighted by both Oliver Cromwell and King Charles II.
Eleanor Dethick - went to London in the 16th century to find her
fortune. Instead, she was arrested and fined the sum of pounds5 for
keeping a high-class bawdy house.
