Leading article: A difficult choice, but Israel needs the Labour Party inside government

EACH SUCCESSIVE Israeli election is a reminder of what distinguishes Israel from most other countries in the region. Israel is a democracy, and while this can make for messy post-poll bargaining among a shifting range of minority parties, it also gives the prime minister an authority that comes only from being freely elected.
