A lthough it is well into summer, this week I am taking a break from easy-drinking beer because variety is the spice of life. The beer I feature today is what I would call a big beer in more ways than one. It is big on flavour, bottle size, and price. The beer is from Australis Brewing Company in Auckland and it is called Benediction Ale. The brewery is in Galbraiths Alehouse on Mount Eden Road.

The two brewing companies use the same equipment, the common link being Keith Galbraith who is a partner in both ventures. The other person behind Australis is Ben Middlemiss, and this beer is ...
