Cops v lawyers in Whangarei

WHANGAREI police are considering a judicial review of the
majority of cases heard by a visiting district court judge over one
week last month.
The move would up the ante in a row between lawyers and police in
Whangarei, which has erupted following a decision by judge John Hole
to dismiss charges against two teenagers of assaulting police.
Hole ruled the teenagers used reasonable force when they reacted
to what he considered an unwarranted assault by a sergeant.
