Dubuque airport fares well in fare study; $399 average: IDOT finds only Kansas City, Mo., has lower round-trip prices among 16 regional airports

Average round-trip airfares from Dubuque were the lowest in the state and beat average airfares from most other regional commercial airports, according to a new study.

"We dominate the airfare scene. There's no doubt about it," said Ken Kraemer, manager of the Dubuque Regional Airport.

The first Iowa Department of Transportation study of regional airfares found only Kansas City, Mo., offered lower average prices than Dubuque. The study listed $293 as the average round-trip fare to fly from Kansas City to 12 destinations. It recorded the comparable average price from Dubuque as $399. In Iowa, ...
