Imperial mansion along Beijing's scenic lake to receive public
BEIJING, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- Prince Gong's mansion, Beijing's
largest and best preserved princely home, will open to the public on
Aug. 20 after 2.5 years of renovation.
The mansion is divided into a residential area and a garden. The
area to be open next week is the residential portion with an area of
32,000 square meters.
The garden, covering a 28,000-square-meter area, opened to the
public in 1988.
The grand mansion, located along the scenic Rear Lake north of
the Forbidden City, was built in 1776 as the residence of Heshen, ...
