Where do you start with a special dog story about a big bulldog that once belonged to me and one of my best friends? I suppose the beginning, about 14 years ago.

I had just moved to Ocean Springs, Miss., and had started my new job at Bienville Animal Medical Center and found myself in need of a new puppy. A large litter of bulldogs had their tails docked in early September 1994 and one particular brindle puppy stole my heart. One look and Rufus was a new member of the Palermo family.
