Salisbury Plain.
On the ground, troops carrying weapons and wearing desert
camouflage gear tactically patrol the grassland. In the air, Chinook
helicopters fly overhead while jets sweep across the plains
monitoring the work below them.
Clearly the troops are in England - on Mission Rehearsal Exercise
(MRX) - and not Afghanistan, but the routines and the procedures are
all exactly the same.
It is getting the basic drills correct in a tri-service exercise
of this scale which makes operating in the real theatre of war so
