More than one million people in the Westcountry face another crippling rise in fuel bills after one of the UK's largest energy firms announced plans to push up its prices.

Edf Energy has hit its customers with a 17 per cent increase for electricity and 22 per cent for gas - more than six times the inflation rate - blaming wholesale energy costs.
