Sweet dreams of pavilion's salad days ; Visitors who see the Pavilion building in Torquay may be excused for thinking it is Torquay's main theatre. It stands like a scene from the past with a central dome covered in copper and a full sized figure of Britannia on top. Two small domes feature Mercury, the messenger - God of eloquence.

from the past with a central dome covered in copper and a full sized
figure of Britannia on top. Two small domes feature Mercury, the
messenger - God of eloquence.
It is surely unique in its style and one feels it is now sadly
lacking its potential. It exudes the ambience of the 1920s -
imagining the two superb Art Nouveau cast octagonal bandstands with
the Torquay municipal orchestra soothing us with the sweet musical
sounds of the era.
