Trincomalee residents need more help

TRINCOMALEE, Sri Lanka, Dec. 28 (Xinhua) -- After the tsunamis on Sunday killed more than 600 in Sri Lanka's eastern port of Trincomalle, local residents said Tuesday that they are desperately wanting food, drinking water, cloths, tents and other assistance.

In Nilaveli, one of the areas most seriously hit by the tsunamis, some displaced residents are sitting under a piece of cloth with four of its corners tied by strings to surrounding trees. Most of the refugees are women and children.
