New Zealand navy tipped to buy French torpedoes

WELLINGTON, April 27 (Xinhua) -- The New Zealand navy will be equipped with new French torpedoes, said the captain of a French frigate which has spent the past week in Wellington on a goodwill visit, according to The Dominion Post Tuesday.

Commander Eric Pages of the French surveillance frigate Vendemiaire was quoted as saying that he talked about the MU-90 torpedoes that New Zealand is going to buy during discussions with navy chief David Ledson last week.
