KUALA LUMPUR, March 22 (Xinhua) -- The Malaysian ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) has won the 11th general election on Sunday by more than a two-thirds majority.

The voters' strong mandate to BN, also the National Front led by Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, will enable him to form a new government in recent days.

The coalition, grouping 14 component parties, has formed every government in Malaysia since its independence from Britain in 1957.
