Romanies looting in east Slovakia
PRAGUE, Feb. 23 Xinhua) -- About 20 Romanies looted a food shop in
Rimavska Sobota, Slovakia on Monday, and the plundering is
continuing.
A growing number of looting cases has been reported in the past
few days from the poorest districts in east Slovakia where lower
social security benefits will be put into effect as of March 1.
The Romanies claimed that the cut of social security benefits was
the reason for their behavior. About 100 Romanies have protested in
various east Slovak towns and Romany groups have announced a nation-
