Message in a time warp: Man finds 1964 note in pond bottle, then locates 'boy' writer

As a boy, Robert Rydin, for reasons he can't quite recall now in
middle age, wrote a note. And he took that note and he jammed it
into an ink bottle and he sealed it.
He bound the ink bottle with electrical tape. He covered that with
masking tape. He hooked a piece of pipe onto the glass jar with a
copper wire. Then he chucked it into a pond near his Clarendon Hills
home.
And he forgot about it.
For 42 years.
That is, until Lyons fisherman John Hood reeled it in -- a muddy
memory of Rydin's 11-year-old self.
"It certainly does take me back to those days," says Rydin, a 54-
