Some people consider starting a new job is three times more scary than getting married.

And of 2,000 UK workers surveyed 20 per cent claimed starting a different job was on their list of the most frightening things to do and actually placed it on a par with a visit to the dentist or confronting a spider.

Almost 50 per cent said the best way to make a good impression on the first day was to demonstrate the friendly side of your nature and make friends with the team.
